Qualifying Health Conditions for Medical Cannabis In Hawaii

The State of Hawaii, Department of Health maintains a list of health conditions that make a patient eligible for a “marijuana” patient license.

According to the State of Hawaii, Department of Health website the list of debilitating medical conditions is defined in section 121 of  HRS-329, a qualifying debilitating medical condition includes:

  1. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
  2. Cancer
  3. Glaucoma
  4. Lupus
  5. Epilepsy
  6. Multiple Sclerosis
  7. Rheumatoid Arthritis
  8. Positive status for human immunodeficiency virus
  9. Acquired immune deficiency syndrome
  10. Post-traumatic stress disorder
  11. “The treatment of these conditions”, or

A chronic or debilitating disease or medical condition or its treatment that produces one or more of the following:

  • Cachexia or wasting syndrome,
  • Severe pain,
  • Severe nausea,
  • Seizures, including those characteristic of epilepsy, or
  • Severe and persistent muscle spasms, including those characteristic of multiple sclerosis or Crohn’s disease.
